Daytime TV
Daytime TV is a Scottish indie rock band made up of 4 members. Chris Clark, bass player, Gareth Thompson, drums, Will Irvine, vocals and guitar, John Caddick, guitar and keys. The quartet is currently supporting Blue October on a tour of the UK.
At the gig in Manchester Daytime TV kicked off their set with ‘side effects’ off their latest album, ‘nothing’s on but everyone's watching’. This upbeat song with the amazing guitar riffs really got the crowd excited for the rest of the set. They followed with ‘hush’, a bit of a lighter indie song. The catchy lyrics made it easy to pick the song up and many people in the crowd were singing along to the song by the end.
After thanking Blue October for having them on tour with them Daytime TV went on to sing ‘ugly’, another upbeat rock song. During this song the guitarist, John Caddick, got the crowd joining in by clapping along to the beat.
After ‘ugly’ Will Irvine spoke to the crowd and announced the next song. “We’re celebrating the release of our album these are the first shows we’ve done this is our latest single little victories”. They then sang ‘little victories’ which was my favourite song of the night.
They finished off the show with ‘zombie’ and ‘digital light’, two more alt-indie rock songs with catchy lyrics and an upbeat tune. These songs were great to end with to get the crowd excited for Blue October.
To end the show Daytime TV thanked the crowed, “a huge thank you to you guys for having us and welcoming us to your lovely town and we will be back”. Through the whole show the audience clapped, whistled and cheered to show how much they were enjoying the set.
After their set, John Caddick and Will Irvine headed over to the merch stand where you could go meet them and get albums signed.
Overall, I loved Daytime TV’s performance and I cannot wait for them to tour again!
